Adrian Peterson Granted Travel for Thanksgiving After Arrest
UPDATE: Former All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson has been granted permission to travel to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving, following his recent legal troubles. Just one month after a DWI and weapon arrest that restricted his movements, Peterson can now spend time with his family from November 23 until December 1.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ Sports reveal that Peterson’s attorney requested the travel approval, which was confirmed by a judge on November 14. As part of his release conditions, Peterson must adhere to strict guidelines, including surrendering all firearms, avoiding illegal substances, and submitting to random drug testing. He must also report to his pre-trial officer within 24 hours of returning to Texas.
This travel approval comes alongside another recent permission for Peterson to visit Las Vegas from November 18 to November 20 for what was described as “work-related obligations.”
The 40-year-old athlete’s legal issues began on October 26, when he was found asleep behind the wheel of his SUV at a gas station. Subsequent field sobriety tests indicated impairment. Peterson faces serious charges, including DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon, stemming from this incident. His previous legal troubles, which occurred six months earlier in Minnesota, involved similar charges after he was pulled over for speeding and subsequently arrested for blowing a .14 on a breathalyzer.
Peterson’s next court hearing for the October arrest is scheduled for January, raising concerns about his future as he navigates these legal challenges.
As Thanksgiving approaches, this development provides a moment of relief for Peterson, allowing him to reconnect with family during the holiday season despite the ongoing legal scrutiny. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
